Shipped in Margin Master 2026.909.40658 · September 10, 2026

The Rename Database tool has been completely rebuilt to work on any Margin Master database—not just "MarginMaster3"—and now lives in the SQL Server Tools window alongside Migrate and Delete Database. The database housekeeping tools (Optimize/Shrink, Reset Database, Run Maintenance Scripts) have also moved into SQL Server Tools under its Tools menu, consolidating all database utilities in one place.

What changed

Rename any Margin Master database

The Rename Database tool now works on any of your databases, not just the default "MarginMaster3" name. It suggests a name that identifies your store and you can edit it. Your connection switches automatically when you rename the database you're using.

Database utilities consolidated under SQL Server Tools

All database tools are now together in File > Utilities > SQL Server Tools. Look in its Tools menu for Rename, Migrate, Delete, Optimize/Shrink, Reset Database, and Run Maintenance Scripts.

Rename Database Window replaces in-line rename flow

Renaming a database now opens a window where you pick the database, see the suggested name, watch the progress, and get a clear result—no more jumping between message boxes.

Shared database name builder prevents drift
Instance migration service extended for same-server renames
Store identity read from database for rename suggestions
