Edit Sort Sequence
What is this?
The Edit Sort Sequence dialog lets you control how rows in the main data grid are ordered. You can sort by up to three fields, choose ascending or descending direction for each, and save frequently used sort combinations as presets for quick recall.
How to Access
- Menu: View > Edit Sort Sequence
- Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+S (from the main window)
Dialog Layout
The dialog is divided into two sections:

Sorting Your Data
Sort Fields
You can define up to three levels of sorting:

|---|---|---|
| Sort by | Primary sort | The first field rows are ordered by |
| Then by (first) | Secondary sort | Breaks ties in the primary sort |
| Then by (second) | Tertiary sort | Breaks ties in the secondary sort |
Each level has a dropdown to select a field and radio buttons to choose Ascending or Descending order. Select <none> to leave a sort level unused.
The dropdown lists only fields available in your current data. The secondary and tertiary sort levels are disabled until the level above them has a field selected.
Fields to Show
The Fields to Show dropdown at the bottom controls which columns appear in the main data grid after you apply the sort:

Pre-Sets
Pre-sets let you save and quickly recall sort combinations. The dialog includes six preset buttons.
Built-In Presets
Three presets come pre-configured:

| Default | Store Number (Ascending), SKU (Ascending) | Standard store-by-store view |
| Impact | Impact (Descending), SKU (Ascending) | Find highest-impact pricing changes first |
| CP-FP Variance | CP-FP Variance (Descending), SKU (Ascending) | Find largest current vs. future price differences |
Custom Presets (Preset 4–6)
Presets 4, 5, and 6 start empty and are available for you to define. Empty presets appear grayed out and italic until you save a sort combination to them.
Loading a Preset
With the Set checkbox unchecked (the default), click any active preset button to load its sort combination into the dialog. The loaded fields and directions fill in automatically.
Saving a Preset
- Configure the sort fields and directions you want to save.
- Check the Set checkbox.
- Click the preset button where you want to save (Preset 4, 5, or 6 — or overwrite a built-in preset).
- Enter a name for the preset (3–20 characters) in the prompt that appears.
- Click OK to save.
The Set checkbox automatically unchecks after saving, returning you to load mode.
The active preset button appears in bold text so you can tell at a glance which preset matches your current sort.
Applying the Sort
Click Use Sort to apply your sort configuration to the main data grid and close the dialog. Click Cancel to discard changes and close without sorting.
Tips
- Use the Impact preset after running a pricing strategy to quickly review the highest-dollar changes at the top of the grid.
- The CP-FP Variance preset is useful for spotting items where the current price differs most from the proposed future price.
- Custom presets are saved to your database, so they persist between sessions.
- You can overwrite any preset — including the built-in ones — by using the Set checkbox workflow.
Common Questions
Q: Why are some preset buttons grayed out? A: Preset buttons that have no saved sort combination appear grayed out and italic. Use the Set checkbox to save a sort combination to them.
Q: Can I reset a preset back to its default? A: Yes. Configure the default sort fields (e.g., Store Number Ascending, SKU Ascending), check Set, and click the preset button to overwrite it.
Q: Does the sort persist after I close the dialog? A: Yes. The active sort sequence is saved and reapplied each time you load data, until you change it.
Q: What does the bold text on a preset button mean? A: Bold indicates that the current sort fields match that preset exactly.
