The Summary Section
What is this?
The Summary panel along the bottom of the main window answers one question about the rows you are looking at: if these future prices go live, what happens? It counts the increases and decreases per store and projects the dollar impact month by month, using each item's sales history.
Walk through it in the app: lesson 1008 — Summary section. Margin Master can walk you through these steps live: turn on Training / Guide Mode from the Help menu, then type 1008 into the Lessons & Guides box — or ask Margin Master support to run it with you.
Display Summary for the following Records
The radio choice at the top of the panel decides what the summary covers:

| Displayed | Summarises the rows the current selections produce |
| All | Also summarises the current selection. In the current release Displayed and All produce the same figures |
| None | Turns the summary off. The panel stays empty and no summary is calculated |
Choose None when you are working through many selections on a large database - each change of selection recalculates the summary, and on a multi-store database that can take a few seconds. Switch back to Displayed when you want the numbers.
Stores that use store grouping (Epicor MySQL/Compass and Mi9 multi-store databases) see By Group, By Store and None instead. By Store is one row per store; By Group rolls the stores up into their groups.
What the columns mean
Only rows that have a future price count. A row whose future price is empty (0.00) is ignored throughout, so an unpriced store shows nothing.
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Store # | The store (or Store Group when grouping is on) |
| Increases | Number of items whose future price is higher than the current price |
| Decreases | Number of items whose future price is lower |
| Average | The average change in price across the store's priced items |
| Annual Impact | The projected change in sales dollars over a year: the sum of the twelve monthly columns |
| Twelve month columns | Each is headed with a month name. The column for a month is the price change multiplied by the units that month sold last year - so the twelve columns together show how the change would have played out over the past year, month by month |
The Total row at the bottom sums the counts and the dollar columns and averages the Average.
Because the projection uses last year's unit sales, a change on a seasonal item shows up in the months it actually sells - which is exactly what you want to see before pricing a seasonal line.
Export Summary To Excel
The Excel button at the top-left of the panel writes the summary grid to an Excel workbook, one row per store, with the same columns.
Tips
Run a strategy, then read the Summary before you export anything. A large Decreases count or a negative Annual Impact is the first sign a step is doing something you did not intend.
The summary follows the SKU-type drop-down on the button row. With Show Non-Ace Skus selected, the summary covers only non-vendor items.
Common Questions
Q: The summary is empty. A: Either None is selected, or no displayed row has a future price yet. Run a strategy or apply a future price first.
Q: The month columns show last year's months. A: They are meant to. Each column applies the proposed change to the units that month sold last year, so the row reads as "what this change would have meant over the past twelve months".
Q: Why do Displayed and All look identical? A: In the current release they are calculated the same way. None is the setting that changes behaviour.
