Chat with Support

What is this?

Chat with Support is a chat panel inside Margin Master. You type a question in plain English and the Margin Master AI assistant answers first. It can:

  • find the right documentation page and link you to it
  • offer a Guided Lesson that walks you through the task on your own screen
  • check how your store is set up, for example when your POS data last imported
  • write up a problem as an issue for you to review and submit

When you would rather talk to a person, the assistant hands the conversation to the support team. A support rep joins you in a live chat in your browser with the whole conversation in front of them. If nobody is available, the conversation is emailed to support and they reply to you by email.

Chat with Support is experimental. It appears only where AI services are turned on (see AI Assistant). Before it is turned on, use Help > Live Support as usual.

Opening / Accessing

  • Help > Chat with Support, or
  • the green Chat pill in the title bar, which opens the panel or closes it when it is already open.

The panel docks on the right edge of the main window. Close it with the x on the Chat with Support caption. Closing the panel keeps your conversation, so you can reopen it and carry on.

Using the Chat

Part of the panel What it does
Suggested questions Shown under the greeting until you send your first message. Click one to ask it.
Message box Type a question and press Enter, or click Send.
Stop Replaces Send while the assistant is working. Stops the answer.
Talk to a Person Opens the hand-off card without asking the assistant first.
New Conversation Starts over with an empty conversation.

While the assistant works, a line under the messages tells you what it is doing, such as "Searching the documentation…".

Lessons

When a Guided Lesson matches your question, a Guided Lesson card appears with a Start lesson button. The lesson starts only when you click the button.

Issue drafts

When something looks like a problem that support needs to investigate, the assistant writes it up as an Issue draft card. Click Review & submit issue to open the Submit Issue window with the title and description filled in. Nothing is submitted until you finish that window.

Talking to a person

The assistant shows the Talk to a person card when you ask for a person, or when it cannot solve the problem. You can also open it yourself with Talk to a Person.

  1. Enter Your name and Your email. Margin Master remembers them for next time.
  2. Click Connect me. Click Not now to close the card without contacting anyone.

What happens next:

  • A support rep is available: your browser opens a live chat and the panel shows "A support rep will join you in your browser." The rep can see your store details and the conversation so far.
  • Nobody is available: the panel shows "Nobody is available right now, so I've sent this conversation to support. You'll get a reply at" your email address.
  • Support cannot be reached (for example, no internet connection): the panel says so. Try again in a moment, or use Help > Live Support.

Tips

Ask one thing at a time and include the screen you are on, for example "On the Rounding Scheme screen, how do I copy a scheme?"

Answers are written by AI and can be wrong. Check the linked documentation page before you change prices.

The assistant only reads your data. It never changes prices, strategies or settings.

Common Questions

Q: I don't see Chat with Support in the Help menu. A: It appears only on computers where AI services are turned on. Help > Live Support is always available.

Q: Does support see my conversation? A: Yes. The conversation is saved for the support team so they can help you, whether or not you ask for a person.

Q: I closed the panel by accident. Did I lose the conversation? A: No. Open Help > Chat with Support again and the conversation is still there until you click New Conversation or close Margin Master.
